The 2012 Paris Motor Show at the end of the month will see the very first presentation of several new products from the BMW M Performance Accessories division including parts for the recently launched 1-Series 3-door hatchback and 3-Series Touring, plus a power kit for models fitted with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder common rail diesel engine.
Beginning with the M Performance Power Kit for the 120d, 320d and 520d models, a reprogrammed engine control unit and a larger charge air cooler boost the 2.0-liter diesel’s output and peak torque from 181Hp (184PS) and 379Nm (280 lb-ft) to 197Hp (200PS) and 420Nm (310 lb-ft) respectively.
BMW says that the increase in power helps the aforementioned models improve acceleration from zero to 100km/h (62mph) by up to 1.0 seconds, while keeping the same fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures of the regular versions in the EU test cycle.
For the new 1-Series 3-door hatchback and 3-Series Touring, the M Performance kit of goods includes retrofit components in the areas of drive, suspension, aerodynamics and cockpit, and which will be go on sale later this fall.
A few examples of the available accessories are exterior mirror caps in carbon finish, a selection of wheels, diffuser inserts for the rear apron and side sill foliations with M Performance inscription.
BMW will also show its current portfolio of M-branded parts for other vehicles such as the 5-Series at its Paris Auto Show stand.
