The all-new 2013 ATS premium compact sedan will be taking the spotlight on Cadillac’s stand at the upcoming Paris Motor Show as the automaker prepares for its European launch with sales to begin in October and customer deliveries in December.

While the ATS is offered in the States with three petrol engine options including a 200hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, a 270hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four and a 320hp 3.6-liter V6, Cadillac’s European release only mentions the 2.0L Turbo that can accelerate the rear-wheel drive sedan from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 5.9 seconds.

This version competes directly with the BMW 328i sedan that’s powered by a 240hp 2.0-liter force-fed inline four.

“The arrival of the ATS now gives us a very strong contender in the biggest-selling segment of the premium class,” says Wolfgang Schubert, Cadillac Europe Managing Director.

“The ATS is quick, nimble and great fun to drive. It will appeal to buyers who appreciate a car with superb handling qualities that also stands out from the crowd. We’re confident the ATS has all it takes to go head-to-head with its competitors,” Schubert added.

Cadillac said it will have three examples of the European ATS in final production specification on display at the Paris Motor Show, joined by the updated SRX crossover, the Escalade Hybrid and the CTS V-Series sedan, sport wagon and coupé range.
