The Onyx wasn’t the only concept model from Peugeot to receive an online debut today prior to the Paris Motor Show as a second study from the French automaker also came into light, the 2008 Concept.
Whereas as the Onyx is a flight of fantasy, the 2008 Concept is a precursor of an upcoming production crossover in the B-segment (sub-compact category) – think Nissan Juke. How do we know this, you may ask?
Well, because a couple of weeks ago, our spies spotted a camouflaged prototype of the 2008 crossover undergoing hot weather testing in Europe. Despite the eye-stressing disguise, it’s not hard to see the similarities in the design between the test car and the concept model.
The 2008 is believed to ride on a modified version of the new 208 supermini’s platform sharing a similar engine lineup, with the possible addition of the PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s first petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain that will use an internal combustion engine to drive the front wheels and an electric motor to turn the rear wheels.
We expect information on the 2008 Concept to be released by Peugeot over the next few days, so stay tuned for more.
