Renault may have slipped up by placing a naked example of a pre-production 2013 Clio Sports Tourer in an official video (later on removed) for the new generation Clio hatchback, but it’s still not willing to admit defeat and continues to keep the prototype models under some seriously twisty camouflage wraps.

The new Clio Sport Tourer, which most likely will follow the example of the outgoing model and be offered under different monikers in Europe including Estate and Grand Tour, is clearly longer than the five-door hatchback with an extended rear overhang to improve the luggage area.

What most people would refer to as a sub-compact station wagon or estate, will keep the regular Clio’s hidden rear door handles adding blacked out B-, C- and D-pillars to the create the illusion of a continuous glasshouse.

Naturally, the engine range will be shared with the 2013 Clio hatchback and will include both petrol and frugal diesel units.

While it is still possible to see the new Clio Estate at the Paris Motor Show, Renault hasn’t included car in its official list of world premieres.
