The wait for one of the crown jewels of the new Porsche 911 series is almost over as it shouldn’t be too long before the automaker removes the last remaining pieces of camouflage from the Turbo model in both Coupe and Convertible forms.

CarScoop reader and avid Porsche-hunter Toldi was able to capture a thinly disguised prototype of the new 991 Turbo Coupe on the streets of Porsche’s hometown of Stuttgart in Germany with his camera.

Porsche’s people had masked off parts of the front and rear end of the 911 Turbo to hide the details, but it’s pretty easy to distinguish the styling elements that stand out such as the pronounced rear hips, additional air vents all around the body, and larger rear wing.

The new iteration of the Turbo series is believed to sport a new 3.8-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with an advanced tri-turbocharging system that replaces the current version’s diesel-style variable turbine geometry twin turbochargers.

You can get a glimpse of the new 911 Turbo in the video that follows.

Thanks to Toldi for the video tip!
