Mazda has released pricing information for the 2013 model year Mazda3 MPS (known as the MazdaSpeed3 in North America) in Britain.
The performance version of the series skips on most of the cosmetic upgrades found on the rest of the range. The only changes made to the MPS are the new graphics on the tail lamps, plus a new gunmetal finish for the 18-inch alloy wheels, and a Black Mica finish for the inner roof spoiler (beneath the wing), door mirror housings and lower rear bumper trim.
Power continues to come from a perky 2.3-liter turbocharged four delivering 256bhp (260PS) to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission with wider spaced gear ratios and a Limited Slip Differential (LSD). It accelerates from zero to 60mph (96km/h) in 6.1 seconds and has a restricted top speed of 155mph (250km/h).
The 2013 Mazda3 MPS is priced at £23,995 and will be available in a choice of four exterior colours named Aluminium Silver, Black Mica, Crystal White Pearlescent and Velocity Red, all free of extra charge.
Together with the announcement on the arrival of the MPS, Mazda said two new models named Tamura and Venture that are available with 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines, now join the permanent range of the regular Mazda3,.
Standard equipment for the Tamura editions includes 17-inch alloy wheels, Sports styling kit, front fog lights, electric windows, six-speaker audio system, dual zone climate control air-conditioning, front, side and curtain airbags and a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm.
The Venture models add light gunmetal alloys wheels, a unique rear spoiler, privacy glass, 5.8-inch Sanyo TomTom navigation, Bluetooth hands-free, automatic lights and wipers, cruise control and heated front sports seats. Details on pricing can be found in the list that follows below.
