Not to be outdone by its German rivals, BMW has prepared its own pair of special edition models based on the X6 crossover and the 6-Series Coupe for the U.S. market.
The new limited run models are the Individual X6 Performance Edition, of which only 100 examples will be built for deliveries in mid-December 2012, and the 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition that will be even more exclusive as only 55 copies will be made with sales to start in mid-January next year.
Beginning with the X6, there are 50 examples of the X6 xDrive35i, each priced at $81,695 and 50 of the xDrive50i with an MSRP of $92,895 including destination and handling.
Both crossovers are outfitted with an M Performance Package engine upgrade that provides increases of +15hp and +30 lb-ft in the X6 xDrive35i lifting output to 315hp and torque to 330 lb-ft, and +40Hp and +30 lb-ft of torque in the X6 xDrive50i that now delivers 440hp and 480 lb-ft.
The Individual package adorns the exterior with a unique Pearl Silver metallic paint, 20-inch alloy wheels, and black chrome exhaust tips. Inside, there are sport seats dressed in Black Alcantara and Leather with Sakhir Orange contrast stitching, which can also be found on the dashboard and floor mats.
Furthermore, the dashboard and center console of the special edition X6 are finished with “Carbon Leather Wrapped” Trim, and there are several additional features, such as the Premium, Cold Weather and Technology Packages, soft close doors, running boards, five-seat option and satellite radio with one-year subscription.
The X6 xDrive50i also gets LED headlights and the Premium Sound Package.
Moving on to the 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition, buyers can choose from two models, the rear-wheel drive 650i Coupe with an MSRP of $99,295 and the AWD 650i xDrive Coupe priced at $102,695, with both prices including destination and handling fees.
Unlike the crossovers, there are no engine upgrades for the coupe that is highlighted by the special “Frozen Silver” exterior paint contrasted by the black mirror caps and rear diffuser.
The tune continues with 20-inch bi-color M Performance wheels and the M Sport Package that includes a variety of goods such as an aero kit, M Steering Wheel, dark chrome exhaust tips, anthracite Alcantara headliner, sport exhaust system and black brake calipers.
Inside, BMW fitted the coupe with a Black Nappa leather interior, “Gray Popular” wood trim and a standard Executive Package, which includes soft close doors, power rear sunshade, front ventilated seats, leather dashboard, contrast stitching, and ceramic secondary controls, head-up display (“HUD”), smartphone integration, and BMW Apps.
In addition, the AWD version is equipped with a Cold Weather Package that features heated steering wheel and ski storage bag.
