The 2012 Australian International Motor Show, held in Sydney and open to the public from October 19 to 28, will see Hyundai displaying the new Veloster Street Concept.
The very SEMA-like project car is based on the production model and has been modified from top to bottom in conjunction with local aftermarket company Concord Customs.
On the outside, the body is finished in matt grey paint with orange accents to be found on the new side-skirts, rear diffuser, front spoiler and the Tenso R V1 18-inch wheels that are shod in 215/40/18 tires.
Other details worth mentioning include the illuminated front, rear side and rear splitters, the matt black roof spoiler and turbo-back twin exhausts.
The interior of the concept was color matched to the exterior featuring new leather appointments, while also gaining LED lighting throughout and a high-end audio system with fully integrated custom subwoofers and amplifiers providing 8650 watts of sound.
The tune goes beyond cosmetics with the Veloster’s turbocharged engine gaining a new exhaust, a custom aluminium front-mounted intercooler, a Monza dual-port blow off valve and a sports air filter, though we’re not told how much power is gained from these modifications.
The chassis was upgraded with new front and rear sway bars, bushes, coil over suspension and front and rear drilled and slotted rotors for the braking system.
“The Veloster offers the ideal platform for aftermarket interpretation and personalisation, and provides the opportunity to demonstrate the full potential of this affordable sports model,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Marketing Director Oliver Mann. “Street Concept is an excellent example of the versatility of the brand and the potential for Hyundai to reach a broader audience.”
