The sales directors at BMW‘s M department seem to have found the golden goose in the form of special edition models sporting added standard features and unique shades.
Less than a month after BMW began U.S. deliveries of the 200 examples of its 2013 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition, the Bavarian company came out today with another special series of the V8-powered coupe.
This one is named the 2013 M3 Frozen Limited Edition and for the most part, it’s very similar to last year’s 2012 M3 Competition Edition of which only 40 units were made available to U.S. customers.
BMW said it will build 150 examples of the car for the States, with buyers being able to choose among three matte shades named Frozen Red, Frozen White and Frozen Blue, each of which comes with an interior dressed in sport black Novillo leather with contrasting stitching that matches the exterior color.
Additional features over the regular M3 Coupe include the following items:
- BMW Individual Frozen Red, White, or Blue exterior paint
- Competition Package including:
- Matte black 19” light alloy wheels
- Electronic Damper Control
- Lowered suspension (-10 mm)
- Sport mapping for EDC and DSC
- Premium Package
- Black Extended Novillo leather with contrast stitching in exterior color on seats, headrests, door inserts, armrests, middle console, and door pulls.
- Carbon leather trim with contrast stitching in exterior color
- High-gloss black kidney grilles
- High-gloss black side gills
- High-gloss black exhaust pipe tips
- 6-speed manual transmission
- Carbon fiber roof panel
The German carmaker pointed out that customers will also be able to tailor their car with these options:
- Cold Weather Package
- M-DCT Transmission
- Rear spoiler delete
- Moonroof
- Heated Front Seats
- Automatic High Beams
- Satellite Radio with 1-year subscription
- BMW Apps
- BMW Individual Enhanced Premium Sound
The 2013 BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Limited Edition will have a starting price of $76,395 including destination and handling, which compares to the regular model’s base MSRP of $60,100 (€46,400). The first cars will arrive in customer hands in January next year.
