While on one side of the Atlantic, Volkswagen’s local arm was releasing prices for the UK market 2013 Golf Mk7, on the other side, the German automaker announced U.S. pricing for the 2013 Jetta Hybrid.
The turbocharged gasoline-electric hybrid will go on sale in the States in the last quarter of 2012 with a base MSRP of $24,995 (€19,350 at today’s rates), excluding a destination charge of $795 (*).
The Jetta Hybrid is powered by a new 1.4-liter turbocharged and direct-injected TSI gasoline engine mated to a 27-hp zero-emissions electric motor and seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, which deliver a combined output of 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft for a 0-60 mph (96km/h) time of less than 9.0 seconds.
While the EPA has yet to rate the car, VW says it has a “manufacturer estimated combined fuel economy” of 45 miles per gallon (5.3 lt/100km or 54 mpg UK).
The 2013 Jetta Hybrid is offered in four trim levels, the base model that starts at $24,995, the SE priced at $26,990, the SEL at $29,325 and the SEL Premium at $31,180 (all prices exclude a destination charge of $795).
The base trim includes Daytime Running Lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, power windows with one-touch up/down, audio system, ‘Climatronic’ automatic climate-control, Bluetooth connectivity and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel.
Moving up to the SE adds LED taillights; power recline front seats; Media-Device Interface (MDI) and iPod cable; Premium VIII touchscreen radio with color energy flow display in center console; SiriusXM Satellite Radio; and keyless access with push-button start.
Further up we find the SEL that gets 16-inch wheels, a sunroof, a better audio system with navigation, heated front washer nozzles, and heated power front seats.
The SEL Premium tops that with Bi-Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights and Active Front-Lighting System (AFS), foglights with cornering light, 17-inch rims, a Fender Premium Audio System with subwoofer and a rearview camera.
