Chris Harris put his hands on two of Europe’s fastest and most powerful hot hatches, the Audi RS3 and the newly arrived BMW M135i.
Believe it or not, in the UK, at £39,950 (US$64,100 / €49,200), the Audi RS3 is roughly 25 percent more expensive than BMW’s newly arrived M135i hot hatch, which will set British buyers back £29,995 (US$48,150 / €36,900).
The Audi RS3 is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five good for 335hp (340PS) that drives all four wheels via a DSG transmission cracking the 62mph (100km/h) mark in 4.6 seconds.
Its Bavarian rival, the M135i, makes use of the latest version of BMW’s 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six delivering 315hp (320PS) and is available in both RWD and AWD flavors. The 6-speed manual gearbox model hits 62mph (100km/h) in 5.1 seconds, while the 8-speed automatic does the same in 4.9 seconds.
