Nissan continues to roll out its 2013 portfolio with the presentation of a new model year Versa sedan, which was launched in the U.S. market just last year.
For 2013, Nissan has increased pricing for all trim grades, with the base Versa S fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox now starting at $11,990, excluding a $790 destination charge, or $1,000 more than the 2012 model.
Nevertheless, Nissan says the Versa continues to have lowest starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (M.S.R.P.) in the States.
The small sedan’s range has been expanded with the addition of a new 1.6 S AT model equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission (the 2012MY was available only with a 5sp manual and an Xtronic CVT) that returns 26mpg city, 35mpg highway and 30mpg combined.
There’s also a new trim grade named “S Plus” offered with the Xtronic CVT, cruise control, silver steering wheel accents and two additional rear speakers over the base “S” model.
All 2013 Versa Sedan models fitted with the Xtronic CVT transmission now achieve fuel economy of 40mpg on the highway (versus the previous 38 mpg Highway) thanks to the addition of new low-rolling resistance tires, an air intake guide, rear spoiler and rear wheel and underbody air deflectors.
All Versa sedans are powered by a 1.6-liter HR16DE 4-cylinder gasoline unit rated at 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of peak torque.
