Ford of Europe’s decision to close its Genk plant in Belgium and leave some 4,300 workers without a job by the end of 2014 didn’t sit well with the factory’s employees.

Some 250 workers from the Genk plant travelled in busses from Belgium to Ford’s European headquarters in Cologne in western Germany on Wednesday, November 7, to protest the company’s plans to close the factory.

It didn’t take long for things to get nasty with the angry protestors burning tires and setting off fireworks in the front of the Cologne-Niehl site, which they had blocked.

The German police showed up and the situation exploded with three officers being hurt in the process before they arrested around 100 people, according to a report from the Associated Press on Fox News.
