This new spy video shows the next iteration of Infiniti’s G series premium saloon giving it a go on the track that all carmakers, small and large, fine-tune their future products, Germany’s famed Nürburgring.

The all-new G series will launch late next year (as a 2014 model in North America) with the world premiere rumored to take place at the Geneva Salon in March, though, we wouldn’t be surprised if Infiniti chooses the Detroit Motor Show in January instead.

We have already covered the basics on the new G-series in a recent posting with scoop photos, but to recap, a few things you need to know about Infiniti’s bread-and-butter model is that it will have a slightly larger footprint and a design that incorporates fresh styling cues, including a crescent-cut C-pillar and a more aggressive fascia influenced by the Emerg_e concept.

It’s also important to note, especially for European consumers, that the G-series sedan will be offered for the first time with a new a range of Mercedes-Benz-sourced four-cylinder turbocharged diesel and petrol engines alongside the usual V6 units. However, at this time, we do not know if the smaller powerplants will make it to North America.

Below you will find the spy video. If you can tell the type of engine used in this prototype, head over to the comments and share your findings.
