We’re used to delivery vans being boxy commercial vehicles, but as we have seen many times in the past with cars like the Vauxhall Corsa or even the Audi TT (though, that one was in Denmark), automakers can take advantage of the law and turn regular passenger models into LCVs (Light Commercial Vehicles).
After the Korando Sports and the Rexton, SsangYong has presented its third passenger car-based light commercial vehicle in the guise of the new Korando CSX that is offered in Britain with prices starting from £15,995 on the road excluding VAT.
The transformation from passenger SUV to delivery van entails the darkening of the rear side windows and the elimination of the rear seat bench to create a completely flat load area with a total volume of 1,312 cubic litres .
According to Korean carmaker, the CSX offers a load deck length of 152.5 cm, and 96.5 cm between the wheel arches, along with a 433kg (055 pounds) payload and the ability to pull a 2 tonne trailer.
The CSX comes equipped with standard on Demand 4×4 system, ESP with Hill Start Assist, and mud & snow tyres.
Under the bonnet, power is provided by a new, lower CO2 version (with 157g/km) of the regular Korando’s 2.0-liter turbo diesel producing 147bhp (149PS) and 266 lb-ft (360Nm)
“The new Korando CSX is the third light commercial vehicle (LCV) to join the SsangYong line-up, and offers a highly practical and affordable vehicle for those with a specific business need,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.
