The one-off Volvo S60 Polestar Concept will continue its world tour with a global motor show premiere at next week’s 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
This will be the first time that the street-legal sports sedan study will be displayed to the public since Volvo’s performance partner Polestar presented the concept in June this year.
“This is Polestar’s interpretation of the Volvo S60,” said Christian Dahl, founder and CEO of Polestar. “It’s a car developed with our own preferences in mind — although we know they are also shared by active drivers.”
“We approached this project by looking at the production Volvo S60 as a platform for a potential race car – and the culmination of that data went into the design of the S60 Polestar Concept,” added Jan Andersson, chief engineer at Polestar.
The S60 Polestar Concept comes with a specially tuned version of Volvo’s 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six producing a BMW M3- and Audi RS4-beating 508 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft. of torque, with a six-speed manual and a modified Haldex all-wheel-drive system transferring power to the road.
A specially made Öhlins suspension, a beefier brake systen and 19-inch rims in 265/30 R19 tires can also be found on the S60 Polestar, which as we’ve mentioned in the past, has already been sold to an American collector.
