Automakers are in full preparation mode for the LA Auto Show that will soon open its gates to the press, but Infiniti had a different announcement to make today, one regarding a global premiere that will take place not in Los Angeles, but in Detroit next year, and we quote:
“Infiniti announced today it will unveil an all-new luxury sports sedan, January 14, at the brand’s North American International Auto Show press conference.”
The Japanese luxury carmaker did not elaborate further, however, we believe it’s going to be the all-new Infiniti G sports saloon, despite previous reports stating that it will be shown first at the Geneva motor show in March of 2013 (we gather that it will make its European premiere in Switzerland).
The new G series will adopt a more aggressive design borrowing styling cues from newer Infiniti models like the crescent-cut C-pillar and large kinked grille.
Under the hood, we’re going to see a new range of downsized four-cylinder turbocharged diesel and petrol engines sourced from Mercedes-Benz joining the traditional V6 gasoline units.
Along with the January 14 unveiling, Infiniti said that in Detroit, the company’s new president Johan de Nysschen will also “present his vision for the brand in a speech that outlines a new direction for Infiniti in the years to come”.
