A YouTuber who goes by the name Frank Steele stumbled upon a convoy of five 2014 BMW X5 prototypes in the city of Chamblee in Georgia, this past Sunday.
We can’t be 100 percent certain because of the quality of the video and the fact that the cars were on the move, but there’s a good chance that the first model seen in clip may be an M Performance model or an X5 fitted with the M Sport Package, while the fourth test car looks like it could be the new X5M.
“We saw them come off of I-85 South, but got caught by a couple of lights, and caught up as we approached Buford Highway,” said Steele on the description. “I got 10 seconds of video as we passed the line of SUVs, then the stills. We saw them once more turning south onto Peachtree Industrial a few minutes later,” he added.
One more thing we noticed in the video about the more lightly camouflaged (compared to previous prototypes) X5s is the very-F30 like grille and headlamp treatment.
The next X5 will ride on a new and lighter platform architecture, which together with other measures could cut as much as 150kg (330 pounds) over the current model.
The new F15 (BMW‘s official codename of the new X5) should come into the light sometime in 2014.
