A new all-wheel drive version has been added to the range of the Dodge Charger for those who prefer to keep the rear end of their cars under control in the Snow Belt regions during the winter season that kicks off on December 21.

The 2013 Charger AWD Sport series comes with a handful of styling and comfort features, paddle shifters and a “sport mode” for the transmission and the option of two engines, a 370hp Hemi V8 and a 300hp Pentastar V6.

The Sport package is available on the Charger SXT and SXT Plus AWD models for $1,395 and on the Charger R/T and R/T Plus AWD models for $1,195, which according to the Detroit carmaker, represent a 40 percent package savings discount if the extras were to be ordered separately.

What the Sport edition adds to the AWD models is a Gloss Black split-crosshair grille surround, 19-inch polished alloy wheels with Gloss Black pockets shod in all-season performance tires, the first application of steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters and sport mode transmission calibration on Charger AWD models and a boot spoiler.

In addition, the SXT and R/T feature sport seats in black cloth, while the Plus models get the option of black or red heated Nappa leather sport seats.

A Beats Audio system with a 12-channel amplifier, 8 speakers, 2 woofers and a large trunk-mounted dual-voice coil subwoofer come as standard on all Sport AWD models.

The 2013 Charger Sport AWD will be produced from December, 2012 through February, 2013, with the first models to hit Dodge dealerships in the first quarter of 2013. Detailed pricing, excluding a $995 destination charge, follows below.
