Shoehorning a 638hp Corvette ZR1-sourced, 6.2-liter supercharged LS9 V8 into a lightweight Lotus Elise is in itself, insane, but choosing to swap the stock supercharger for twin ball bearing turbochargers that push output to 1,244 horsepower takes craziness to a completely different level.

The car featuring this mind-blowing setup is Hennessey Performance’s Venom GT and it’s as fast as its specifications suggest.

Hennessey Performance wanted to show us what its pride and joy is capable of by unleashing the Venom GT on a runway.

The result? The Detroit-powered supercar completed the 0-200km/h (124mph) sprint in a time of 7.96 seconds, reached 300km/h (186mph) in 13.48 seconds and 370km/h (230mph) in 19.96 seconds.

Watch how it did it in the videos that follow.
