The new generation of the Forester is enjoying a zesty start in its home market of Japan, as Subaru announced today that as of December 16, it has received 8,149 orders in about a month after its launch on November 13.
Subaru said that as a result, it broke its initial monthly sales target of 2,000 units for the SUV in Japan by more than four times.
The breakup of sales shows that most Japanese buyers opt for the naturally aspirated model (61.4 percent vs. the Turbo’s 38.6 percent share) and that the most popular colors are Satin White Pearl (27 percent) followed by Crystall Black Silica (24.9 percent).
In the U.S., the new Forester was officially presented at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show, but it won’t go on sale before spring of 2013. It will be available with a choice of two powerplants, a 170-horsepower 2.5-liter naturally aspirated boxer unit and a new 250-horsepower 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged flat-four.
