This fresh spy video from Spain shows the station wagon version of the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf that will be named the Golf Variant (Estate in Britain) when it is introduced in Europe in 2013, and Jetta SportWagen when it arrives in North America within the next two years.
Built on the same MQB platform as its hatchback sibling, the estate model features a longer rear overhang along with a taller and boxier shaped rear end to offer a significantly improved (and more practical) luggage area in excess of 500 liters.
The engine range will also be shared with the hatch with VW offering the Variant with a familiar range of petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines ranging in displacement from 1.2- to 2.0-liters, coupled to either six-speed manual or dual clutch DSG transmissions.
