Not that’s it’s much of a secret, but Mercedes-Benz has shared the first official image of the refreshed for the 2014 model year E63 AMG sedan, seen here riding along the rest of the updated E-Class range that includes the regular sedan, Wagon, Coupe and Convertible body styles.
The German carmaker also confirmed the presentation of the production CLA compact four-door coupe at next week’s Detroit auto show.
“At the Detroit Auto Show Mercedes-Benz will wait up with the launch of a major model initiative,” the company said in a statement. “Not only will we introduce the E-Class Saloon, Estate, Coupé and Cabriolet, but also the E 63 AMG model now available in a 4MATIC version and, of course, the new four-door coupé, the CLA.”
The AMG version of the series sports the same cosmetic updates to the body such as the elimination of the “Pontoon” style rear fenders and the twin unit headlamps adding a new body kit that’s highlighted by a redesigned front bumper featuring huge air vents from side to side.
A big change for the 2014 E63 AMG is the option of Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive configuration, which will be available alongside the standard rear-wheel model. Power will continue to come from a 5.5-liter twin turbo V8, though, we still don’t know if the Germans will make any improvements to the engine’s output.
