With all the buzz generated by the new CLA compact premium sedan it’s easy to forget about the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class that makes its world debut at this week’s North American International Auto Show.

That would be a mistake because the new E-Class that’s offered in saloon, estate, coupe and convertible flavors, is much more than your typical mid-life facelift, featuring notable changes both in its styling and under the skin.

Well, as a reminder, Mercedes-Benz released a four-minute video of its new mid-size luxury model. It shows its large array of active safety features like the Intelligent Light System with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus LED headlamps , DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist cruise control, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, BAS PLUS with Cross Traffic Assist and PRE-SAFE with pedestrian detection, to name but a few.

You can view the video displaying the plethora of high-end technology (along with, ironically, an analogue clock…), which according to Mercedes, makes for an “Intelligent Drive” right after the break.
