About a fortnight ago, the internet was abuzz with a set of pictures of the convertible 2014 Corvette Stingray, with the word being that they could be renders of a future die-cast model from Maisto or leaked images from GM’s design studio.
If a report from Autoweek is to be believed, then we may have the chance to verify their authenticity much sooner than we originally thought.
Citing unnamed inside sources, the magazine said the soft-top version of the Stingray will make its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be open to the press March 5-6, and to the public, March 7-17.
The same people said production of the convertible will “trail the launch of the coupe by about three months”. Since the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe will enter production in August, this means the convertible should launch in November.
The open top and coupe models of the seventh generation Corvette will be mechanically the same featuring GM’s new 6.2-liter “small block” V8 engine generating 450hp in base form, with more powerful editions to follow in the near future.
