Following up on the 2014 Forester’s world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of November and before it goes on sale in the States during the second quarter of the year, Subaru announced pricing for the new generation of its popular compact crossover.
The longer and slightly wider 2014 Forester will be available with a choice of two flat-four engines.
These include a naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter unit delivering 170-horses that begins at $21,995 for the base 2.5i with a six-speed manual transmission (there’s also a CVT), and a 250hp 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant offered in Premium and Touring flavors, with the Premium trim priced at $27,995. Keep in mind that these prices do not include an $825 (*) destination charge.
According to Subaru, the base 2.5i model (regardless of transmission) achieves a manufacturer’s fuel economy estimates of 24 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined. The carmaker has not yet released fuel economy numbers for the Turbo model, which is offered only with a CVT.
Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes as standard on all models, while the Forester will be available with a raft of standard and optional amenities and conveniences, including rear vision camera, color multi-function display, power rear gate with automatic close and Keyless Access, Eyesight driver assistance system and a navigation system with smartphone integration.
