It has been close to two years since Renault impressed us with the athletic three-door Captur Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and even though we’re not going to see that car on the road anytime soon, the French brand has borrowed its name and certain design elements to create a new sub-compact crossover model.

Seen in this official teaser photo and video for the first time, the new Captur will be detailed at the end of this week (January 11) before it heads to Switzerland and the 2013 Geneva Motor Show for its world premiere.

Aimed at the likes of the new Peugeot 2008 and the Opel / Vauxhall Mokka, the Captur rides on a modified version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s modular B platform, which also underpins the Renault Clio Mk4 and the Nissan Juke.

Renault remains coy about the powertrain lineup, but expect the Captur to be offered with a similar range of small-displacement diesel and petrol engines as the latest Clio.
