Driving in the snow to make your living sounds like a drag, unless you happen to be a test driver for a sports carmaker like BMW‘s M sub-brand, in which case, we would happily exchange places.

This BMW employee was out testing the next generation of the M3 sedan, which from next year, will be the only M3 you will be able to buy (unless, the Germans have plans for a Touring variant) as the coupe and convertible will be renamed after a UK motorway to M4.

While at a first glance, nothing seems to have changed over previous prototypes, upon a closer look you will discover the addition of an integrated spoiler that wraps around the boot lid edge.

In addition, this car also appears to feature the optional M Carbon Ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers on the front axle compared to the four-piston calipers seen on all previous M3 sedan testers.

Power for this generation of the M3 will come from a newly developed twin or tri-turbocharged inline-six delivering around 450-horses to the rear wheels, with transmission options to likely include both a manual gearbox and a dual-clutch auto.
