Mercedes-Benz launched its revised E-Class range at the Detroit Motor Show and its currently rolling out one commercial after another about its new products – even about the CLA that won’t be launched until Geneva.
The first rule in successfully promoting any product is to know who your target group is; whom you are going to sell it to and what they expect. Obviously, the E 63 AMG with its 557HP in standard form and 577HP in S-Model guise is not exactly aimed at those who simply want a premium luxury sedan or station wagon.
Yes, it sports the same safety features and can do all the things that the lesser versions do, e.g. transport four or five adults and their luggage, the school run, the supermarket, you name it. But it can also do some things that other versions of the mid-size Mercedes can’t, like shredding its rear tires with ease, drifting at very high speeds (on a track, of course…) and emitting a thundering soundtrack out of its quad exhaust pipes.
While the saloon/estate and coupe/convertible models showcased their heavily revised styling and their numerous safety systems, for the über E-Class, the three-pointed star threw the political correctness book out of the window and shows what makes the AMG variants different from their smaller gasoline and diesel powered brethren.
So, no teasing female model, growling wolf bearing its teeth or any such things on this one, as you’ll find out for yourself by watching the video after the break.
