Some of you may be wondering; why would anyone want to backflip a car in the first place? Well, to be frank, if you’re asking that question, then this video probably isn’t for you. If you’re not questioning, but simply want to enjoy a dangerous stunt made by a professional driver, then by all means, skip through the break.
The car is a specially-prepped MINI ALL4 Racing and the man behind the wheel, extreme sportsman, freestyle skier, professional rally driver and a veteran of the X-raid Team, Guerlain Chicherit.
The 34-year-old Frenchman executed the stunt at the winter sports resort of Tignes in his home country using a static ramp to get the MINI up in the air and back to the ground, which in this case, was a soft bed of fresh powder snow.
MINI stated: “The backflip had previously been attempted by other drivers. But Chicherit has now become not only the first automotively-propelled artist to execute a perfect landing, he also did it “unassisted” – in other words, without the aid of a special ramp with moving elements to boost the car’s rotational movement. “
