When it comes to the Geneva Auto Salon, most picture leaks are usually sourced from Eastern European and Russian websites, but this time, it’s the show’s official page that appears to have prematurely dropped the covers from two new cars, the Smart Fortwo and the Fiat 500X. We can’t confirm it yet, but both pictures do look like they could be the real deal.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Fiat 500X, as the Italians gave us a sneak peak at the small crossover during the presentation of the 500L minivan back in July of last year, with which it shares its underpinning and powerplants.
The high-riding 500X will be built alongside a closely-related Jeep model at the company’s Melfi assembly plant in Italy from 2014.
The second model released on the Geneva motor show website is the next Smart Fortwo in cabrio trim. We still do not know if this is the actual model set to go on sale within the next year, or (more likely) a pre-production concept. Either way, its exterior appearance resembles the Forvision Concept seen the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Update: As pointed out by CarScoop reader Matthieu Lauraux in the comments, both of these images are speculative renderings that have been shown on other publications with watermarks in the past. How and why the Geneva Auto Salon posted these photos on its official website remains a mystery…
