The second member of the new Skoda Octavia Mk3 family after the liftback is the Combi, or as it will be marketed in the UK and other countries, the Estate, and it was partially revealed today in advance of its world premiere at the Geneva motor show next month.
Skoda shared two images of the new Combi, through which it also debuts a new four-wheel drive system for the series featuring a fifth generation Haldex clutch.
The estate model has grown significantly in size compared to its predecessor boasting a 110mm longer wheelbase along with a 90mm longer and 45mm wider body overall.
“Our Skoda Octavia Estate offers rear-seat passengers lots of legroom – 73 mm in front of the knees – the highest in its segment. And at 610 litres, the size of the boot sets a new record for its class,” says Skoda Board Member Frank Welsch. Folding the rear backrests down increases the boot space of the new Octavia Combi to 1,740 liters.
Like the Octavia hatch, the station wagon also features a double-sided boot floor mat, net restraint system, multiple bag hooks, a waste bin and numerous bottle holders, multimedia device holders and an ice scraper in the fuel tank opening.
We’ll have to wait for the Geneva motor show for full details on the engine range, but Skoda says it will mirror that of the liftback with a selection of turbocharged diesel and petrol units, with the GreenLine version to return a fuel consumption of 83.1mpg UK (67.7mpg US – 3.5lt/100km) and CO2 emissions of 89 g/km.
