What does Daimler’s Smart car brand and Danish urban interior design specialist BoConcept have in common? Well, at a first glance, nothing much, but when designers from both companies came together, they discovered a common ground in the disciplines of “form” and “functionality” – or so they claim.
The two brands say they started the collaboration as as creative exchange about urban design, which resulted in the creation of a special edition Smart ForTwo BoConcept and a collection of furniture and accessories inspired by the German mini.
“Smart and BoConcept unites one common aim: to make optimal use of the limited space available in the city with attractively designed products – products that allow our customers to both express their personality and organise their lives, and that also enable relaxed communication,” said Smart CEO Annette Winkler
Beginning with the Smart Fortwo BoConcept, the special model is based on the Brabus Cabrio with the design inspired by home interiors. The exterior of the car features matte white body panels with matte brown finish for the tridion cell, door mirror caps, soft-top and the alloy wheels. Brown is the color of choice for the customized interior as well.
“As of March 2013, BoConcept Stores in various cities around the world will be using the smart fortwo BoConcept signature style as an agile brand ambassador,” said the Danish company in a statement.
On its behalf, the small Smart car inspired the creation of BoConcept’s ‘smartville collection’ that includes a modular sofa, lounge armchair with several references to a car seat as well as a coffee table, glassware, special cushions and a table clock. The collection will go on sale worldwide in March.
