Carscoops readers are filling up our email box with tips today, the latest one being these two purportedly official images of Land Rover’s brand-new 2014 Range Rover Sport that appeared on a German-language blog.
From what we can tell, these shots match the three photos of the second generation Range Rover Sport that was spotted in a window-tinting shop earlier this month, so chances are they are real.
It won’t be long before we find out, though, as Land Rover will reveal the new Range Rover Sport on Tuesday, March 25, on the eve of the New York International Auto Show.
Land Rover’s all-new Sport shares its all-aluminum, bonded and riveted PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform and engine range with the fourth generation of the Range Rover, meaning that it will benefit from a similar reduction in weight of up to 300 kg (661 pounds).
Engine choices are expected to include a new 335hp supercharged V6 gasoline unit as well as the usual crop of supercharged V8 gasoline, and V6 and V8 turbo diesels (depending on the region).
Visual differences from the bigger Range Rover include the lower roofline, reworked profile detailing and the more aggressive designs of the front and rear ends.
