Jeep is saying that the all-new 2014Cherokee is the “most capable mid-size SUV” (they fail to mention, in which areas, though).

Keen to prove that the brand is heading in the right direction, and keeping true to its core attribute of excellent off-road ability, they have now released a short video, which shows the awkwardly-styled SUV negotiating some pretty serious terrain – a place a where a rock-crawler would be much more at home.

The Cherokee, which is reportedly related to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Dodge Dart underneath, is currently only known for its bizarre face, and not much else. There are no exterior shots of the car, in the video below, which in my book is a good thing…

The Cherokee, which replaces the Liberty in North America, will make its official debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. It is touted as being highly-capable both on- and off-road, and at the same time, 45 percent more fuel efficient than the Liberty. Still, with a face like that, it may struggle to find buyers, especially since it now faces [pun intended] a lot of talented competition.
