While the DTM (Deutsche Touring Masters) is largely unheard-of outside of Europe, the competition is still taken very seriously by Gemrany’s “big three” premium automakers. Now, Audi has just revealed the DTM racing version of their RS5, the RS5 DTM, at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show.
The car has been built to race in the 2013 series of the DTM championship, which begins exactly two months from now, on May 5. However, since competition regulations did not allow them to make any drastic modifications to last year’s car, Audi have merely improved and optimized the car.
No actual technical specifications have been released, but since no reported changes were made to the car, it’s safe to assume that the 4.0-liter V8-engined cars still make around 500 hp.
Three teams (Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg) will race a total of eight cars this year, and the first venue in the racing calendar is the Hockenheimring, followed by races in Austria, the UK, the Netherlands and the series’ debut round in Moscow, Russia.
