If you haven’t noticed, there’s a huge power gap in the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class’ range, and specifically, between the A250 that sports a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four delivering 208hp (211PS) and the A45 AMG featuring the same displacement engine but with a whopping 355-horses (360PS).

We haven’t heard anything official yet, but it’s only reasonable to believe that Mercedes should develop a model to fill the space between these two cars in the A-Class lineup. Until that happens, the aftermarket industry will have a blast covering the need for something faster than the A250 but considerably cheaper than the A45 AMG.

Vath’s answer to this problem is called the V25 and it starts with a performance package that includes a software upgrade and a new sports exhaust system to boost the A250’s output from 208hp (211PS) to 242hp (245PS) and 390Nm (288 lb-ft).

The German tuner quotes a 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h (155mph), which compares to 4.6 seconds and a limited maximum velocity of 250km/h, respectively for the A45 AMG.

Each car also gets new springs that drop the ride height by 30mm, an optimized braking system and 19-inch competition-style wheels in tires measuring 235/35ZR19 and 255/30ZR19 front and back respectively.

Cosmetic improvements include a carbon fiber front spoiler lip and a sports steering wheel optionally available with carbon or fine wood trim applications.
