The all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA sports saloon is available to order now in Britain where it is offered with a choice of two engines and two trim grades. On-the-road (OTR) prices range from £24,355 to £31,555. By comparison, the current entry-level C-Class, the C180 starts at £26,270.
The base model in the series is the CLA 180 powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol rated for 120HP (122PS) and 200 Nm (147.5 lb-ft) of torque, which can complete the standard sprint to 62mph (100km/h) in 9.3 seconds, and return a combined fuel economy of 50.4 mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 130g/km.
If you’re looking for something a little faster and at the same time, more frugal at the pump, there’s the CLA 220 CDI featuring a 2.1-liter turbo diesel engine delivering 167HP (170PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque that enable it to complete the 0-62mph test in 8.2 seconds and top out at 143mph (230km/h). With this diesel unit, the CLA is good for a combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 117g/km.
There are two trim levels, beginning with the Sport that comes with a suspension tuned for comfort, 18-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and the usual array of safety features.
The second trim grade is the AMG Sport that adds special rims, an exterior styling package, sport steering wheel and seats, and bi-xenon headlamps.
