Nissan’s booth at the Auto China 2013 in Shanghai will include the brand’s first concept car developed with key input from Chinese designers. Called the “Friend-ME”, the study has been shaped with the help of Chinese designers working at Nissan Design China in Beijing. Nissan says local designers were fully engaged in the design as well as the development process of the Friend-ME.
There aren’t too many details about the concept, with Nissan only revealing that the car features a unique center console that allows “Four Seats, One Mind Connectivity” – meaning equal information sharing among all passengers.
Nissan says the Friend-ME is designed for China’s “vibrant, young generation”, which makes up “one of the most exciting segments” in the world’s largest automobile market. We’ll know more about the Friend-ME on April 20, when the concept will be revealed in Shanghai.
Overall, Nissan will display 20 vehicles at the Chinese show, including the GT-R, Quest, Murano and the Teana global sedan. It will also showcase models made by its Chinese joint-ventures, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFL-PV) and Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile (ZNA).
