On Tuesday, Renault shared a darkened image of an upcoming concept car scheduled to be unveiled on the sidelines of the 2013 Monaco F1 Grand Prix on May 24. Today, the French brand dropped two more pictures along with some added details but it stopped short from telling us what it is.

However, these two teasers are good enough to solve the mystery as it quickly becomes obvious that the concept is the “TwinFun” (or TwinRun) that was spied and filmed completely undisguised in late March this year while shooting a promo in Madrid, Spain.

According to the French automaker’s press blurb, “This concept car was designed and developed entirely by Renault Design as an expression of the brand’s passion and an illustration of how different takes on the same small city car are possible.”

The TwinFun is a racing variant of the Twin’Z Concept, but instead of the latter’s electric powertrain, it appears to feature a rear-mounted petrol engine. Both these concepts are believed to preview the looks of the next generation Twingo that will share their powertrains, platform and rear-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive layout with the new iterations of the ForTwo city car and ForFour supermini.
