After updating the Phantom range last year and adding a new and comparatively sportier coupe, the Wraith, just last month, Rolls-Royce engineers and designers have turned their attention to the brand’s third and most affordable model, the Ghost, which is offered in regular and long-wheelbase flavors.

If you know Rolls-Royce, then you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that the first facelift for the Ghost won’t bring any earthshaking updates.

On the styling front, the BMW Group-owned brand has re-designed the headlamp fixtures (notice the flattened tops on the lights and keep in mind, the bottom panel between the main units and the LED strips is camouflage) and made some subtle tweaks to the front bumper. If you pay closer attention, you will notice the re-styled door mirrors and the absence of visible exhaust pipes at the rear end.

Since this is one of the first prototypes of the 2014 Ghost, there’s always the possibility that Rolls-Royce may add more changes down the road, but these will likely be limited to minor elements like the tail lamps, alloy wheels and rear bumper.

We haven’t seen the interior yet, but judging by the Phantom update, we should see some subtle tweaks to colors and trim, along with newer versions of the navigation and infotainment systems.

Rolls-Royce will also fettle around with the available engines to improve their fuel economy and CO2 output.
