Yes, you read that right. Smart will build the Forjeremy in an unspecified limited number of vehicles. The Daimler Group brand displayed the production version of the Forjeremy, a car created together with fashion designer Jeremy Scott, at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Essentially a Smart Fortwo with wings, the limited special edition goes on sale this month and will be available as a coupé with an emission-free electric drive, a Brabus electric drive or a powerful Brabus 100 horsepower petrol engine.
If you’re wondering what’s with the wings, fashion designer Jeremy Scott has an explanation. “I wanted to design something out of the ordinary, something that expressed my dreams and fantasies and that transferred my fashion ideas to automotive design. I see myself driving this car and can well imagine my friends and cool people all over the world loving the unique design of this smart,” says Jeremy Scott.
We’d better not comment on that and move on to the design department. The car’s tridion safety cell, door mirror caps and radiator grille are all painted in “Alubeam”, in contrast with the bodypanels and Monoblock alloy wheels that are finished in polar white in the Brabus drive variants. The mirror triangle and rear lid are embellished by logos and lettering featuring the words “by Jeremy Scott”.
White is also the dominant color on the inside. The seats, door center panels, gear knob (petrol version only) and kneepad are all tailor made with white, embossed leather complete with white stitching. The dashboard instruments, the trim to the side of the instrument panel and the gearshift trim are all finished in Alubeam.
All three versions of the Smart Forjeremy will be built by Smart-Brabus GmbH in a tailor made manufacturing process. The cheapest version in Germany will be the 100-hp Brabus petrol model, at €33,333 ($43,550). The electric version with a 55 kW (74hp / 7PS) electric motor will be priced from €34,800 ($45,460), while the 60 kW (80hp / 82PS) Brabus electric model will cost €40,600 ($53,030) in Germany. Prices and availability in other markets will be announced soon.
