Over the past years, the Nürburgring has become something of a Holy Grail for automakers that want to hone their upcoming cars, and in some instances, even brag about their lap times.

In its most recent outing to the Nordschleife circuit, Aston Martin brought along the drop-top version of its new Vanquish, which, like all convertible models from the British brand, will bear the traditional “Volante” name.

Even though Aston Martin went overboard with the twirl-theme camouflage, we can see that the only changes made to the body are the removal of the roof, the newly styled rear-quarter windows, and the more elongated rear spoiler that’s incorporated in the boot design.

At least during launch, the Vanquish Volante will be powered exclusively by the same 5.9-liter V12 with 565-horses (573PS) and 620Nm (457 lb-ft) of peak torque found in the coupe model, with a six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

We could see the new Vanquish Volante making its world premiere as early as this fall at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
