One thing you should know about April Fool’s Day hoaxes, is to always check out the date of reports in the following days to make sure you don’t fall victim to a false story, as not all sites are clear about that.
The story on the return of Toyota to F1 under the Lexus banner from the crew at the ClubLexus is one such example, as there may not be a date on the landing page, but if you check out the comments and head to the news homepage, you’ll see the date: April 1, 2013.
We saw the story of the Toyota F1-comeback with Lexus on at least two sites today, including Autoblog.com and Autoevolution, as well as on Jalopnik’s Oppositelock forums, all of which are citing ClubLexus as the source.
Now, one of the problems with ClubLexus is that there’s no visible contact info, however, after taking a deeper look into the site, we discovered an email for an administrative contact hidden somewhere in the ToS, and sent a message asking the team if our assessment was correct. Until we hear back from them, we’re going to file this story in our April Fool’s Day section with a question mark.
