The clock might be ticking quickly for the world premiere of the all new, and very important for a number of reasons, 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, at a special event in Hamburg, Germany, next week on Wednesday, May 15 (watch the reveal live here), but the internet never rests…
On top of all the other official and unofficial leaks ranging from the front-end picture of the luxury full-size sedan to images of a toy die-cast model, we now have a brochure of the W222-codenamed Mercedes S-Class, courtesy of a reader of the Germancarforum.
The German-language brochure scans provide a clearer look at the new S-Class’ more chiseled and cleaner exterior body that does away with the bloated fenders and gains a swoopier profiler that continues to remind us of the brand’s smaller CLA and CLS four-door coupes.
The interior had already been shown by Mercedes-Benz itself recently, and besides the completely new design that blends classic and modern lines to create what could be one of the best looking cabins in the segment and not only, it also comes with a raft of new technology and comfort features.
These range from the twin 12.3 inch TFT screens for the instrument panel and infotainment system to a sophisticated climate control system with active perfuming and filtering of the air, and in a world first, heated armrests all around, just to mention a few.
Digging deeper into the brochure we find the dimensions for the regular wheelbase model (5,116mm long, 1,899mm wide, and 1,496mm tall with a wheelbase of 3,035mm), and the long-wheelbase version (5,246mm long, wheelbase of 5,246mm – same height and width as the regular model). This means the W222 is 28mm wider, 25mm lower and 20mm longer than the current W221, while keeping the same wheelbase lengths.
According to the brochure, the new S-Class will initially launch in Europe with three models (unless we’re missing a page, that is), including the S350 fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel rated for 255hp (258PS), the S500 powered by a 4.7-liter turbocharged gasoline V8 with 449hp (455PS) and the S400 Hybrid featuring a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, which with the help of the electric motor, churns out 302hp (306PS).
