Believe it or not, having a collection of rare and expensive cars can be a pain to run. Ask Adam Carrolla, the comedian who happens to own a pair of Lamborghini Miuras, among other cool classic cars. Carrolla says that he doesn’t drive his cars on public streets because he doesn’t like the attention and because of L.A.’s “crazy, uninsured drivers.”

Isn’t he talking about the same city where Jay Leno uses to drive his very rare cars? Well, yes, but Carrolla describes himself as the exact opposite of Jay Leno. “If you drive a Miura or some other flashy car on the street, people will look at you. And I don’t like the attention,” Carrolla tells eBay Motors.

Moreover, cars like the Miura are not very reliable, and by not driving them on L.A.’s busy streets, Carrolla says the risk of something breaking is lower. “All of my cars are in very good shape, but I’m just too busy to fix the nickel and dime problems that keep me from using one of them as a driver,” he says.

Finally, the third reason for which Carrolla keeps his cars in a garage, is because KA is “a scary and freaky place to drive.”

So how does Carrolla enjoy his car collection? Well, he races some of the cars in vintage events. “Driving on the street is kind of a let down compared to being on the track. If I’m not in a fire suit and helmet, getting cinched down in a six-point harness, it’s a snooze,” Carrolla says.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Would you take all these risks and drive your rare cars on public roads like Jay Leno does, or would you be satisfied by admiring them in your garage?
