Chevrolet Adds Range-Topping "High Country" Edition to 2014 Silverado Range [w/Video]

Unveiled late last year, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado will be available with the more luxurious High Country trim line starting this fall.

Adding to the LTZ and Z71 models, the Silverado High Country (only offered as a Crew Cab) is distinguished on the outside by its unique chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, halogen projector headlamps and color-coded bumpers. It also comes with standard 20-inch chrome wheels shod in P275/55R20 all-season tires, as well as chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors.

On the inside, the 2014 Silverado High Country gains an exclusive saddle brown cabin, with heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests, Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an 8-inch touch screen, Bose premium audio and front and rear park assist.

The default engine for the Silverado High Country is the 5.3-liter EcoTec 3 V8 delivering 355 horsepower and a fuel economy of up to 23 mpg (10.2 l/100 km) highway for the 2WD models. Chevrolet’s all-new 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 is also available. Both units feature direct fuel injection, Active Fuel Management and continously variable valve timing, and can switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel when not all the power is needed.

Besides the 6.2-liter V8 engine, the list of optional equipment includes a chrome rear bumper with CornerStep, integrated trailer brake controller, sunroof, navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system. Chevrolet also offers the High Country Premium Package consisting of heated steering wheel, driver alert package, adjustable pedals and integrated trailer brake controller.

Pricing for the 2014 Silverado High Country has not been announced yet, but the new model is expected to be pricier than the Silverado LTZ, but less expensive than the upcoming GMC Sierra Denali.
