We never cease to be entertained by certain translations of foreign manufacture press blurbs into the English language – well, at least when they’re not considered racial slurs. In the case of German tuning brand KTW, it was their description of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class T-Model (Wagon in the U.S.): “the T-model of the E-class is a luxury load donkey”.
While we’re waiting for a representative of the “Equus africanus asinus” to respond to KTW’s use of their family name, let’s go ahead and see what the tuner has prepared for the German estate.
The model of choice is the pre-facelift E350 CDI T-Model with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel, good for 261hp (265PS) and 620Nm (460 lb·ft) in factory trim. KTW borrows the ECO PowerXtra D65 power kit from Brabus to increase output to 311hp (315PS), while also adding a sports exhaust system with quad tailpipes.
Brabus is the company of choice for the 19-inch alloy wheels shod in tires size 245/35 at the front and 285/30 at the back, the front skirt with LED lamps, the vented front fenders that are not offered on diesel models by Brabus, the side skirts and door sill trims.
And what does KTW do? Well, it adds its own front grille and signs the receipt for €18.999, which is equal to US$25,000 at today’s currency rates.
