The world of cabriolets that can seat four passengers comfortably has a new member, the Opel/Vauxhall Cascada, a car which aims to be a lower-priced alternative to premium vehicles like the Audi A5 drop top. While the Opel is nowhere near as expensive as the premium cars in this category, according to this review by MotorTorque UK, buyers won’t feel short changed one bit.

The Cascada looks good, has plenty of room inside, it’s generously appointed for an Opel/Vauxhall, with reportedly good quality materials and has a roof that folds away into the boot in 17 seconds, at speeds of up to 30 mph or 48 km/h. Equipment levels on the top spec test car were generous, with leather-wrapped everything, heated seats and steering wheel and sat-nav.

The reviewer’s conclusion is that the car, which starts at €21,800 in Germany and £23,995 in Britain, is well worth looking at, if you’re in the market for such a vehicle. The people behind it have apparently done a good job of making it feel like a plush premium vehicle, despite its lower price tag, and some sharing of components – this is an Insignia/Astra hybrid underneath.
