Coda Automotive has issued its second recall since filing for bankruptcy protection in May. The maker of the all-electric Sedan that is based on the Chinese Hafei Saibao said the recall action affects 117 examples of the 2012MY car because the side curtain airbags may have been improperly rolled during production.
“In the event of a crash necessitating side curtain airbag deployment, the side curtain airbags may fail to deploy as intended, increasing the risk of injury,” Coda said in a statement on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website.
Coda also noted “this recall supersedes a previous recall conducted by CODA, 12V-409” and that “all owners, including owners involved in the previous campaign, will be notified and instructed to go to CODA dealers to have both side curtain airbags replaced free of charge.”
The previous recall action was for around 80 cars from the same model year. The company said the newest safety recall is to begin “on, or about” June 11, 2013.
